A sequel, Tiny Metal: Full Metal Rumble, released in 2019.

Story[]

"Play as Artemisian Lieutenant Nathan Gries as he commands his units to victory against the villainous nation of Zipang. There will be several friends and enemies along the way with varied factions, units, and abilities in the 20 hours of single-player campaign gameplay. Players will have to carefully consider varying terrain, positioning for attacks, and strategic advancements and defenses."

Setting[]

Fifty years ago, the world was wracked by the Great World War, in which countless people died and horrifying weapons of war caused immense devastation. When the war ended, the world's atmosphere was permanently saturated with a miles-thick layer of miasma, artificial particles that interfered with electromagnetic signals, which left all electronic devices only intermittently functional even in the best conditions. Surviving countries found themselves in a new dark age, unable to recreate or operate many of the advanced technologies that existed before. In the decades that followed, new conflicts sprang up as countries fought for resources, hospitable land, and the occasional uncovered cache of Lost Age technology.

The Kingdom of Artemisia, which controlled a largely pristine region of abundant natural beauty and resources, was embroiled in endless squabbles with its jealous neighbors and forced to fend off incursion after incursion. Most recently, an invasion of Artemisia culminated in the Battle of Zeltzer, Artemisia's darkest hour; just as it appeared all was lost for the Artemisian defenders, the legendary Luja Lindberg managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Artemisia then entered a new era of peace.

Unfortunately, this peace did not last. While returning from a diplomatic mission abroad, the King of Artemisia's personal aircraft was shot down over the ocean by a fighter identified as belonging to the isolationist Shogunate of Zipang. Both the King and Luja Lindberg went missing, and Artemisians demanded that their government retaliate for the unprovoked attack. Zipang was caught off-guard by Artemisia's formal accusation of treachery. All Zipanese military aircraft were accounted for, which could only mean the Artemisians had misidentified the culprit. The Shogun's noble vassals differed in how to react; Lord Isoroku Tsukumo preferred to ignore Artemisia and maintain peace, but his rival, Lord Tatara, convinced the other Zipanese nobles that the Artemisians had insulted Zipang's honor, which required a proportional military response.

As the Artemisia continued searching for any sign of its King and Luja Lindberg, hoping against the odds that they still lived, Zipang dispatched a small force of infantry to Artemisia's shores, setting the stage for a new conflict.
